The winner of this new edition of the Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya, which will be played at the Terramar Golf Club in 7 to 10 of July, will be the player who best adapts to the conditions of the host tour.
The Terramar Golf Club has been hosting this tournament for five years and during this time it has been adding different changes, within what the club has called "master plan", a project that "was designed to update the field at the height of the material and the current players, and despite being completed 80% as important infrastructure, small details still remain. The field is a living being and needs time”, explains Tomas Gonzalez, club manager.
Therefore, “The route will be very similar to how it was last year, but with the previous changes more settled”, in addition to the guidelines set by the Ladies European Tour, “which mainly affect the firmness and speed of the greens, and in the rough, a part of the field that will be very important, and not only because of the height, but because of its variety, since it is Paspalum grass”, adds Gonzalez.
That same kind of weed, native to warm and subtropical regions, it will also be found by the players in five of the 18 green of the Terramar Golf Club, while the 12 remaining still have Agrostis grass.
Specifically, they will be the greens of the holes 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 the ones that will have that Paspalum grass, what “will be quite a challenge for the players. We work to try to match all the greens of the course, but it's not just a grass difference, there is also an age inequality, since these last greens are practically new and the rest have more than 50 years" explains Tomás González.
“The one that best adapts your game to the characteristics of the course and the one that best takes the touch of the greens, both of each other, will have a lot of cattle. It will be like when an adjustment is made in a Formula 1 ", Gonzalez concludes.
So entertainment and high-level golf are guaranteed in Sitges, with the Terramar Golf Club turned into a real challenge for the 126 contenders for the Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya.
