Estrella Damm Ladies Open 2022 - Of the 7 to 10 July at Golf Terramar

The Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya starts tomorrow loaded with points of interest, among them, see some of the best national players in action in Sitges

Carlota Ciganda celebrates ten years since her debut as a professional and her start on the Ladies European Tour. Ana Peláez is about to celebrate a year since her transition to professionalism and is taking her first steps in the LET. separated for eight years, 32 Navarre is years old, 24 the malagueña, both represent the present and future of Spanish women's golf. And even Ana Peláez has pointed out Carlota Ciganda as one of her references in the world of golf.

The year of the Navarrese player's debut as a professional was the dream start of any golfer: Two wins at the LET, winner of the Order of Merit and the titles of "player of the year" and "rookie of the year". Carlota Ciganda arrived at the Ladies European Tour like a cyclone.

"I didn't expect that year", remember Carlota Ciganda. "I didn't expect anything in particular.. You start playing and you don't think about anything else. The first year you have no expectations, That's why I think it's easy for you to do well. Instead, when the results arrive, expectations rise and you start to think more. The first year I was going to have a good time, to enjoy and everything went well. I didn't think of anything, 'Cause I didn't have a story on the circuit. It couldn't be better or worse. Instead, when you have results, you always want to be better, because otherwise, you're going to get worse. You put more pressure on yourself and that can be detrimental.”.

The beginning of Ana Peláez in professional golf has not been usual either. Without the LET card, the player from Malaga achieved her access to the European women's circuit through the bravas, with a victory in the Community of Madrid Ladies Open, so that only one more would be left to equal the figure of the Navarrese in 2012.

“This first year has been a bit of learning., especially at the beginning”, explains Ana Peláez. “It was very difficult for me to start. I put a lot of pressure on myself, but talking with my team we put a solution to those thoughts, because we knew the game was good. And when we start to flow, to let things happen and to do the job well, the victory came in Madrid, and it is true that it has changed my life. Since then, we continue on the same path, focusing on the same positive energy. I'm sticking with that this first year.".

in this decade, Carlota Ciganda has achieved five victories in the LET and two in the LPGA, and has participated in five Solheim Cup, being part of the winning team three times. But there are still many challenges ahead.

“I would like to continue winning tournaments, on both the LET and the LPGA, be top of the world ranking, win a big one and play the Solheim Cup next year, which is disputed in Spain. Playing this tournament in your country would be very special. All this motivates me and I would like to achieve it”, Carlota Ciganda concludes.

Regarding Ana Peláez, in a year his qualitative leap has been more than evident. And a clear example is that the Andalusian player has gone from finishing in the position 42 from the Estrella Damm Ladies Open last year to be one of the players to take into account for victory in this year's edition.

“If I look at myself and compare myself to the player I was in 2021, I think that now I am more mature in the field. Otherwise, I think over time, all the players are improving. i may have a bad day, as everyone, but I feel that the attitude, work and play, They are different", finished Ana Peláez.
