Carlota Ciganda, the greatest exponent of Spanish women's golf, has ratified its presence at the Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya 2022, Ladies European Tour tournament to be played from 7 to 10 July at the Terramar Golf Club, in the Barcelona town of Sitges.
In this way, The Navarrese player stands as one of the main strengths of Spanish golf to win the fifth edition of a tournament that has become one of the unavoidable events on the calendar for the best golfers on the continent.
And it is that Carlota Ciganda is not only the best ranked Spanish golfer in the Rolex world ranking, also knows perfectly the magnificent course of the Terramar Golf Club and, especially, he knows very well what it means to win this tournament, since he took victory in the edition of 2019 and was very close 2017.
“The Estrella Damm Ladies Open is one of the tournaments of the season that I try not to miss. It is always gratifying to play in Spain and have the support of the public, but also, the atmosphere in Sitges that week is really special”, Carlota Ciganda declared.
“This will be my second tournament of the season on the Ladies European Tour after the one I played in Saudi Arabia and where I placed fifth.. I hope to have a good week and be able to be up on Sunday. Playing at home and in front of your people is always another incentive to try to have a good tournament”, concluded.
Carlota Ciganda has been present in three of the four editions of the Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya and the results achieved place her without a doubt in one of the favorites to win: in 2017 came close to winning by playing a tiebreaker playoff that was won by the Englishwoman Florentyna Parker; in 2018 was eighth with the Dutch Anne Van Dam as the winner; and in 2019 it was she who took the victory.
